It's nearly 16 years ago that I have decided to follow my dream of becoming a chef, a great chef! On the 1st of December 2004, I stepped into the Lord Charles Hotel as a trainee chef, where I was mentored by a great chef, Andrew Hammond for 4 years. Worked at a few restaurants like Eldo Falls, became head chef at Die Voerkraal in 2014. In 2018 I became the executive chef at the Excalibur Boutique Hotel, fuction Center in Rustenburg, South Africa. But there was this passion and desire to have my own restaurant. In August of 2019, my dream came true, and I opened Under the Cherry Blossom Tree.
With hard work and commitment, is it still growing, and by the Grace of God, it is a huge success. My passion for cooking comes from my mother who has been a great inspiration for me all these years. Ever since I can remember, as young as 5 years old, I was always making something in the kitchen, even when I messed up, had flops, I still laugh about it. The key to all is to never give up and to keep on trying.
